Backed by strong global VC funds, we seek a versatile, dynamic, hands-on engineer to lead our engineering team, encompassing software development, data engineering, and data science, fostering a builder-phase mindset.


Role Overview:

The Engineering Department Lead at Ritual is a cornerstone position tasked with shaping the technical vision, building and mentoring diverse engineering teams and spearheading the development of our digital platform. This role is vital for advancing our technology infrastructure, promoting a data-informed culture, and ensuring the delivery of groundbreaking products. The ideal candidate will be adept at managing a multifaceted team, including remote members, and embody the agility required to thrive in a startup environment.


Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Technical Leadership:

  • Craft and implement the technical roadmap in alignment with business objectives.
  • Architect scalable, robust software and data solutions.
  • Direct involvement in coding, demonstrating proficiency in essential languages (e.g., Python, JavaScript) and frameworks such as Django, FastAPI, React, and React-Native.
  • Expertise in cloud services (e.g., AWS, GCP) for efficient infrastructure management working with resources like ECS, Kubernetes, Lambda Function, and more.
  • Leading development of data pipelines and data analysis that will be critical drivers to the future features of the company, working on various types of data bases such as Postgres, MongoDB, Redis and others
  • Mentorship across the department, enhancing team capabilities and fostering a culture of excellence.
  • Uphold high standards of code quality through comprehensive review practices.

Comprehensive Team Management:

  • Lead recruitment, development, and retention of a versatile engineering team capable of working on-site and remotely.
  • Prioritize projects and tasks, ensuring timely delivery of features and products.
  • Promote Agile methodologies tailored for dynamic and remote team environments.

Innovative Product Development:

  • Collaborate closely with product management to ensure technical strategies align with data-driven product goals.
  • Pioneer innovative solutions to technical and product challenges.

Fostering a Data-Driven Culture:

  • Champion a data-informed approach within engineering practices, leveraging analytics for decision-making.
  • Ensure comprehensive data integration into product development for continuous improvement.

Effective Communication:

  • Communicate complex technical and data insights in an accessible manner to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Maintain transparency and foster collaboration within and across teams.

Security and Compliance Focus:

  • Emphasize data security and privacy, implementing data-driven risk assessments.
  • Stay updated on industry regulations and ensure compliance.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven track record in engineering leadership, software development, data engineering, and/or data science teams.
  • Comprehensive understanding of software and data architecture, cloud computing, and agile project management.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead both on-site and remote teams effectively.
  • Familiarity with Agile and Scrum methodologies, especially within a remote work context.
