In alignment with this strategic growth, we are actively seeking a seasoned professional to fill a pivotal senior leadership position.

As the Director of Software Engineering, you will be entrusted with the leadership and development of a dynamic team comprising 10 highly skilled developers. This multidisciplinary team boasts expertise across backend, full-stack, and data engineering disciplines, with a concentrated focus on software development within the realm of production services. These services cater to mission-critical applications and are utilized by high-profile, high-volume users, underpinning the efficiency, reliability, and speed of open-source IT operations.

Your team is responsible for managing a multifaceted, multi-cloud, hybrid SaaS infrastructure that supports production workloads and serves customers globally, operating distributed Kubernetes clusters. Your paramount responsibility is to the individuals you lead—fostering their growth as engineers, ensuring their engagement in valuable work, and supporting their career satisfaction at Kubiya.

• Strategic Leadership: Understand the global forefront of open-source operations, prioritize efforts to enhance complex software-defined infrastructure, and ensure continuous improvement through effective processes and training.
• Team Development: Lead and nurture three regional engineering teams across major time zones, focusing on hiring, coaching, mentoring, and career development.
• Operational Excellence: Oversee project milestones, manage expectations across engineering and operational teams, and advocate for modern, agile software development practices.
• Collaborative Influence: Actively contribute to the leadership team, promoting great engineering and organizational practices and cultivating a collaborative engineering culture that aligns with company values.

• Leadership Experience: Proven experience managing a team of 20+ software and DevOps engineers, with a demonstrated ability to develop and grow individuals.
• Operational Expertise: Solid experience in running production operations in a SaaS or IT environment with critical uptime requirements, particularly for external customers and partners.
• Educational Background: University degree in Computer Science or a related software engineering field.
• Technical Proficiency: Advanced level proficiency in Golang and/or Python programming.
• Agile Environment: Strong background in agile development practices, with a thorough understanding of modern infrastructure technologies like public cloud, Kubernetes or OpenStack.
