Gentex is a global leader in high-tech electronic and electro-optics products for the automotive, aerospace, and commercial fire protection markets.

Gentex Technologies Israel – GTI, is the Israeli R&D center of Gentex, located in Tel-Aviv. We are focused on developing the next generation of automotive AI technology and Electro-Optics sensors for in-cabin and driver monitoring applications. GTI is Gentex’s AI and Structured-Light center-of-excellence. Our AI vision algorithms are integrated into Gentex products, run on embedded platforms and are an integral part of leading Car manufacturers around the world.

About the Position

Our Advanced Research team is responsible for industrial research in computer vision and deep learning. The team’s goal is to create the next generation of features and products based on cutting edge technologies. The work includes creating POC’s for new products harnessing state-of-the-art technologies to fulfill requirements from our product teams as well as suggesting new features based on advances in machine vision and deep learning research. The team is also responsible for our academia connection and our PhD summer internship program.

This is a unique and exciting opportunity to combine machine learning and vision research in and cutting edge product development.

We are looking for talented and experience Algorithm Team Leader to lead our Advanced Research team.

In this position you will:

• Stay current in the state-of-the-art in machine vision and deep learning research following closely papers, conferences and leading researcher.
• Develop new computer vision/deep learning algorithms for in-cabin sensing and other domains.
• Create new algorithms based on requirements from our product lines or suggest your own ideas based on utilizing new technologies.
• Develop and lead new algorithm development from concept to working POC and in‑car demonstrations.
• Lead, guide and oversee a team of algorithm engineers (full/part time), including our prestigious summer PhD internship.
• Work closely with our product line managers as well as GTI’s other team leaders.
• Become a part of a global R&D operation and a dynamic local team.

What are we looking for?

• MSc in Computer Science\Electrical Engineering\ Mathematics or related fields. Ph.D. or Post-Doc is a strong advantage.
• At least 7 years of experience in industrial R&D work in machine vision (classical and DL). Work in an industrial research team is a strong advantage.
• At least 3 years of experience as a team leader.
• Strong mathematical and research skills. Analytical thinking and problem solving orientation.
• Proficiency C\C++, Python and ML frameworks (PyTorch\Tensorflow\Keras etc) 
• A problem solver and a team player.

How to stand out

• Experience in an Industrial Research team.
• Background in optics and 3D modelling (sensors, illumination, calibration, etc.') a strong advantage.
• Experience in Automotive applications.
