The Reality Labs org aims to connect people from all over the world through world-class AR/VR hardware and software. Our XR Spatial AI team explores, develops, and delivers new cutting-edge technologies that serve as the foundation of current and future Meta products. Specifically, our engineering and research topics cover broad Scene Understanding and Localization from core perception technologies. Our team is focused on taking new technologies from early concept to the product level while iterating, prototyping, and realizing the developer and user value and related new experiences.Our internships are twelve (12) to sixteen(16) weeks long and we have various start dates throughout the year.

Software Engineer Intern, Computer Vision, Image processing and ML Responsibilities:

  • Work on advanced technologies Cloud technologies in the domain of Computer Vision, Image Processing, and Machine Learning.
  • Deliver results that have a direct impact on Meta and/or Reality Labs products.
  • Analyze complex cloud systems defining and monitoring system performance based on existing and new metrics and measuring user impact.
  • Collaborate with team members throughout the lifetime of a project, from research to prototyping to deploying products.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining a degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Electrical and Computer Engineering
  • 2+ years experience with Python and/or C++
  • Familiar with concepts of distributed systems and containerization
  • Demonstrated software engineering experience via an internship, work experience, coding competitions, open source contributions, or research
  • Experience with SQL or alternatives
  • Must obtain work authorization in the country of employment at the time of hire, and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong focus on C++ and its standards
  • Hands-on experience with Linux/Unix systems
  • Knowledge in Computer Vision, in one or more of the following domains: Monocular/Stereo Depth Estimation, Multi-View Geometry (e.g. Structure-from-Motion, Multi-View Stereo, SLAM), Semi / Weakly / Self-supervised Machine Learning, Computational Geometry)
  • Experience with data manipulation and analysis with NumPy/Pandas/Spark or alternatives.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, cross-group and cross-culture collaboration
  • Intent to return to a degree-program after the completion of the internship/co-op
