We are looking for a highly motivated Cloud Database Manager with good communication skills and a self-service approach. As Manager of the Data Architecture Team, which operates in a "Follow the Sun" operational mode, you will play a critical role in ensuring our diverse database infrastructure's availability, reliability, and performance, with a strong focus on cloud provider AWS.

Your primary focus will be managing a skilled team of professionals, fostering collaboration with cross-functional teams, and leveraging your expertise in Python and deep knowledge of PostgreSQL databases.

The Manager in this position will lead a global team of 4-5 skilled professionals and be responsible for shaping the data architecture, including establishing CI/CD pipelines for data architecture and ensuring our SLA by adding extensive metrics and observability.

What You'll Do:

• Database Performance and SLA Management: Ensure that all databases meet or exceed defined SLAs on AWS cloud-based solutions. Actively monitor and manage database performance to minimize downtime and optimize query performance.
• Team Leadership: Lead, guide, mentor, and develop a team comprising 4-5 data architecture engineers, nurturing a culture that prioritizes collaboration and strives for excellence among team members.
• Data Architecture Strategy: Develop and execute a data architecture strategy aligned with business objectives, ensuring scalability, security, and compliance within AWS cloud environments.
• ETL and Data Streaming: Oversee ETL processes and data streaming pipelines within AWS, ensuring timely and accurate data transfer.
• Observability and Telemetry: Implement and manage extensive observability practices, leveraging tools such as Prometheus, New Relic, and other telemetry solutions to monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize the performance of data architecture components.
• Complex Data Architectures: Work with cross-functional teams to design and implement complex data architectures that support various business needs, including data warehousing, analytics, and reporting, leveraging AWS services where applicable.
• Data and Configuration Migration: Take responsibility for planning, coordinating, and executing data and configuration migration initiatives, ensuring seamless transitions while maintaining data integrity and security.
• Data Ownership: Establish and enforce data governance policies, defining ownership, access controls, and data lifecycle management practices, especially within AWS.
  
  

What We Look For:

• At least 3-5 years of proven experience managing DBA team(s).
• Strong leadership and team management skills with a focus on fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
• Strong background in working with various database types, including relational, columnar, and graph databases, focusing on AWS solutions.
• In-depth knowledge of ETL processes and data streaming technologies.
• Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
