About the Position

The Head of the AI Hub leads and shapes the hospital's artificial intelligence (AI) initiatives, ensuring that they align with the vision of pioneering patient-centric care. The head of the AI hub is the go-to expert on AI, deep learning, and machine learning, driving the creation and implementation of state-of-the-art AI solutions for medical diagnostics, predictive analysis, and personalized patient care.


Key Responsibilities

  • Strategy & Leadership: Spearhead the Sheba Medical Center's strategic direction, growth, and collaborations in the field of AI. Research & Development: Oversee and promote research in AI, ensuring the development of cutting-edge applications that cater to clinical needs.
  • Implementation & Deployment: Ensure the seamless integration of AI technologies into the hospital's existing systems and workflows. Team Building & Mentoring: Assemble and lead a team of AI experts, data scientists, and engineers, providing guidance, mentorship, and fostering an environment of continuous learning.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Engage with clinical professionals, IT teams, and administrative personnel to ensure that AI initiatives address real-world challenges and bring tangible benefits.
  • Sprints and Day-to-Day: the AI hub works in two-week sprints. It is the head of the AI hub responsibility to oversee that all projects are timelined correctly and are completed in a timely manner according to the project milestones.
  • Ethics & Compliance: Promote the ethical use of AI, ensuring all applications respect patient privacy and align with medical regulations.
  • Conference: The AI Hub has an annual conference, which national and international stakeholders attend. The head of the AI hub must lead the conference from end-to-end, including marketing efforts, closing the agenda of the conference, inviting relevant startups, industry partners and medical centers to attend, and closing sponsorships.
  • Budget: Each unit at ARC has a budget, and as such it is the Head of the AI Hub responsibility to manage the budget of the AI hub, to oversee that all the projects are budgeted correctly, and that the relevant customer is paying for each project (whether it is an internal project for a specific department in the hospital or a project funded by an industry partner).


Qualifications:

  • PhD or Master's degree in Computer Science, AI, Machine Learning, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field. Minimum of 10 years of experience in AI research and application, with a focus on healthcare being an advantage.
  • Proven track record of leading and managing technical teams.
  • Experience with deploying AI solutions in real-world environments, especially within the healthcare sector. Strong understanding of medical data, including imaging, genomics, and electronic health records.
  • Familiarity with AI ethics, patient data privacy, and healthcare compliance. Excellent communication skills with the ability to bridge the gap between technical and clinical stakeholders.


Extra Qualifications: 

  • Previous experience in a hospital or clinical setting, collaborating closely with physicians, nurses, and other medical professionals.
  • Published research or contributions to leading AI or healthcare conferences and journals.
  • Experience with cloud computing platforms and their integration in healthcare systems.
  • Advanced proficiency in AI tools and languages such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, Python, and R.
  • Demonstrated ability to secure funding or grants for AI research or projects.
  • Membership in recognized AI or healthcare innovation organizations.
