BMC is looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer to join a new and global team we're building!
As a Helix SaaS DevOps Engineer at BMC, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the reliability, performance, and security of BMC Helix SaaS service. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including developers, operations, and infrastructure teams, to optimize the software development lifecycle and streamline our deployment processes. This role requires a deep understanding of SRE practices, cloud technologies, and automation to drive efficiency and maintain a high level of operational excellence.
Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and maintain SaaS operational automation pipelines. Develop and enhance systems for rapid reactive and proactive monitoring, alerting, and remediation.
- Automation and Configuration Management: Automate repetitive tasks and configuration management processes to ensure consistency and reduce manual intervention.
- Ensure Helix systems and application adhere to performance and availability SLAs, while optimizing resource costs.
- Performance Optimization: Optimize the SaaS platform for scalability and high availability, ensuring smooth performance even during peak usage.
- Cloud Infrastructure Management: Architect, deploy, and manage cloud-based infrastructure on platforms like Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Oracle Cloud (OCI)
- Respond to incidents promptly and participate in on-call rotations.
- Review recurring incidents and identify improvement opportunities in collaboration with product feature development teams.
- Security and Compliance: Collaborate with security teams to implement best practices, conduct security audits, and maintain compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with development teams to understand their requirements and provide guidance on infrastructure and automation needs. Effectively communicate DevOps strategies and best practices to other team members.
- Research and Innovation: Stay up to date with the latest SRE trends, tools, and technologies. Continuously identify opportunities to improve existing processes and propose innovative solutions.
Qualifications:
- 8+ years’ experience as a DevOps Engineer and\or SRE, preferably in an Enterprise B2B SaaS environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
- Well versed in observability, monitoring, and managing proactive and reactive alerts. Experience working with Monitoring and Alerting tools to proactively address issues in the running application.
- Strong knowledge of cloud computing platforms (AWS, GCP, OCI or Azure) and their associated services.
- Proficiency in automation and configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Chef, Puppet, Terraform).
- Experience with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) and microservices architecture.
- Solid understanding of CI/CD pipelines and version control systems (e.g., Git).
- Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) for automation tasks.
- Experience with open-source technologies like OpenSearch, Kafka, Redis, and relational databases
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex issues.
- Knowledge of security best practices and experience with securing cloud-based applications.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
