The ideal candidate will be a leader who can manage and mentor multiple cross-functional engineering teams and build a culture of collaboration, learning, and continuous improvement while establishing and tracking KPIs, metrics, and goals to ensure that individual and team performance aligns with overall business objectives. As the company VP of R&D, you will join our leadership team and report to the CTO.

Responsibilities:

• Defining R&D team strategy and methodologies and optimizing work processes and efficiency.
• Connect the dots between technology and business, execute long-term and short-term projects, focusing on rapid iteration, quick time-to-market, and cross-functional collaboration to continually improve outcomes, processes, and user feedback.
• Make sure that architecture decisions are designed with scalability, flexibility, and maintainability.
• Recruiting, building, leading great teams, training, and developing personal development plans.
• Prioritize according to risk, deadlines, and external commitments.
• Passionate about code and hands-on approach.
• Ensure open communication within the team, and establish genuine trust and working relationships that enable the team to influence.

Requirements:

• Track record of 8+ years as a VP of R&D or Director of R&D (at least 30 engineers) for enterprise software products.
• Proven experience in planning, architecting, and executing large and complex software systems with multidisciplinary teams.
• B2B SaaS product development experience in a start-up environment
• Experience developing a cloud-based system
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire, motivate, and develop high-performing teams.
• Ability to perform under pressure in a constantly changing environment.
• Ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders when working in a diverse team
• Passionate about software engineering and constantly seeking to learn more.
• Exceptional strategic thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
