Smartphone-controlled Paper Airplanes and Virtual Reality Drones

PowerUp Toys develops motorized paper airplanes and drones.

Users can create a paper airplane and then attach the PowerUp modules, which they can control using the associated smartphone app.The company offers two types of modules, both of which can be attached to and propel the paper airplane.

The first type can be controlled by a smartphone that responds to tilting.

The second type, the FPV, includes a swiveling, live-streaming camera that communicates with the user’s smartphone.

The smartphone can be inserted into head-mounted goggles as a virtual reality device, allowing users to tilt their head to control the drone.

Both modules use Bluetooth to link to the user’s smartphone.PowerUp’s components are designed to be durable in order to withstand crashes.

The FPV contains several sensors, including a barometer, gyroscope, three-axis compass, and three-axis accelerometer.

It is also equipped with an autopilot mode to help prevent crashing.PowerUp Toys was developed by Tailor Toys Ltd.
