The TUT combines many advantages found separately in various types of tympanostomy tubes, making it an appropriate solution for any middle-ear ventilation or drainage problem.The tube has a conical shaft for increased ease in cleaning clogs, an ultra-polished surface to prevent adherence of crusts, and a collapse mechanism that makes removal easy and painless.

The tube can be easily removed from childrens ears in the office without anesthesia after being softened with saline drops for 15 to 30 minutes.
