It was established in Israel in 1991 as the sales branch.

In 2006, with the acquisition of ProteOptics Ltd, a developer of surface plasmon resonance technology, a research and development center was opened and renamed Bio-Rad Haifa.The R&D activities span from the development of reagents and kits to the design and engineering of analytical devices and instrumentations.

These activities serve a wide spectrum, covering almost the entire proteomics research workflow for the scientific, biotech, and pharma communities
